Traine Farm is a working farm in this idyllic rural part of Devon. It has been a settled holding since before 1086 and was mentioned in the Domesday Book. Our family has farmed here since 1939. We have researched the history of the farm and its occupants over the centuries.
Trace your family history
Robert is a keen local historian and has many years experience of the local area and researching at the Record Office. He would be pleased to help you with your genealogy.
A real working farm
We have a small herd of South Devon Cattle and also grow cereals; we like to show guests the animals and explain how the farm works. Bring your wellies and enjoy some time exploring the surrounding countryside, we have some great walks in the area.
In addition to the herd, your children have the opportunity to collect fresh eggs or take a ride on our pony ‘Copper’. There is also a farm trail from where you might capture a glimpse of badgers in their natural habitat. There’s something for everyone at Traine Farm and these experiences make your Devon holiday very special.
It’s a real farm which we hope you will enjoy. Many of our guests return year after year and are always interested in the way that our food is produced from source.
We feel that we have the best of all worlds, we’re surrounded by beautiful rural countryside and yet only minutes from the beach. If you need a few cultural days, Plymouth is only seven miles away.
Traine Farm cottages offer our visitors a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Why wait, plan your break now!
